Marcus Wong: The Heroic Protector

In our latest interview with Marcus, he maintains his professional demeanor while juggling a busier schedule and pursuing ambitious plans. He has co-founded two youth organizations in collaboration with the government: the "Youth Council Founding" and the "Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation." These organizations provide free wealth-related information and volunteer opportunities to young people. Marcus believes that being busy gives us more time and warns against complacency. 

With an impressive resume, Marcus stands as a beacon of success. With an illustrious career in the insurance industry, Marcus has garnered a multitude of accolades, including the coveted title of Registered Financial Planner (RFP) and Certified Financial Consultant (CFC). As a distinguished member of the Million Dollar Round Table, he represents the crème de la crème of insurance and financial professionals in Hong Kong. Notably, Marcus has achieved the extraordinary feat of being a COT (Court of the Table) Member and TOT (Top of the Table) member.

Marcus's commitment to social work started early in his career, participating in street fundraising for the “United Hearts Youth Foundation” and serving on the board of directors. As a board member of Yan Oi Tong, he established the "Elderly Care Fund" and the Cancer Fund to assist vulnerable communities. "I've only been at the Youth Council for less than six months, but we've already organized numerous activities and various seminars. Recently, we visited Polytechnic University with renowned speakers: Mark Lui and Andy Hui, inspiring students to embrace entrepreneurship and contribute to society. Additionally, we hold elections for outstanding secondary students and sponsors the top-performing ones for an Arctic expedition.”

Marcus is a remarkable individual who effortlessly juggles his professional and social responsibilities. It's hard to determine if he ever has any time for himself, as he seamlessly blends work and play, much like top athletes. “Take Cristiano Ronaldo, for instance. When you watch him on the field, it's nearly impossible to discern whether he approaches the game as a job or simply enjoys every moment. I love what I do and I don't differentiate between personal and professional time. However, I ensure that I set aside quality time with family every Sunday, hosting delightful gatherings in my garden for the younger members of my family.”

In addition to his dedication to maintaining a harmonious work-life balance, Marcus emphasizes the importance of equilibrium. He often quotes Confucius, who wisely said, "Balance is the key." “In an uncertain economic future, I believe it is crucial not to lose sight of our roots and succumb to greed. Instead, we should focus on our responsibilities and stay grounded, even during challenging times.”

What truly distinguishes Marcus is his unwavering positivity. He approaches every situation with a mindset that refuses to dwell on negativity or complain. "Even when faced with challenges," he asserts, "I choose to see the beauty within them." Intriguingly, Marcus dedicates much of his energy to empowering young people. “I aim to inspire the younger generation to look beyond their immediate surroundings and resist being consumed by the online world. “ Marcus firmly believes in cultivating a balanced and optimistic mindset, urging the younger generation to live in the present and make a meaningful impact in their own lives.

While society often tends to blame younger individuals for a perceived lack of effort, and the youth, in turn, blame society for limited opportunities, Marcus takes a different approach. He actively strives to provide young people with platforms for personal development. Marcus invests resources in nurturing inexperienced individuals, preparing them for the challenges of the future. His goal is to foster a culture of growth from within, enabling young individuals to thrive and make a difference in their own unique ways.
